Siam Repertory Theatre Company
When inspiration comes, one must grab it. Finding twenty of H.M. King Rama VI's English-language plays, lying forgotten and unperformed, has been a dream come true; an extraordinary process of discovery: meeting scholars and professors, reading theses and books, researching a story that never quite finishes revealing itself.
Siam Repertory Theatre Company exists to bring to the stage, all twenty of H.M. King Rama VI's English-language plays. Most have never been performed professionally at all — not once, in over a hundred years. Delivering them, over the coming years, means pairing homegrown Thai talent with theatre makers from around the world. To carry this work forward properly by rolling out regular seasons, this company will need a home of its own, a place where these plays, largely unperformed for over a century, can be developed, rehearsed, and performed year-round. That is the vision of the SRTC.
Reuben Grove
Director & Dramaturg
Reuben Grove is a British theatre director, writer, and educator. A graduate of the University of Oxford, he has directed and taught extensively throughout the UK, with a particular interest in Shakespeare and actor-led performance. He served as Associate Director of The Factory Theatre Company, one of Britain’s leading ensembles for innovative classical theatre, and has worked on productions with the National Theatre, including Richard III and Julius Caesar. Alongside his directing work, Reuben has written for stage and screen and is recognised for his collaborative, text-centred approach to performance. He considers himself honoured to serve as Director of The King’s Command, introducing H.M. King Rama VI’s remarkable English-language comedy to a new generation of theatre-goers.
Siân Williams
Movement Director
Internationally acclaimed Movement Director, Choreographer and Performer
Siân Williams is one of the world’s leading movement directors and choreographers, with a distinguished international career spanning more than four decades across theatre, television, film and opera.
Her work includes productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare’s Globe, the National Theatre, and London’s West End, together with acclaimed productions on Broadway, including the Tony and Olivier Award-winning Wolf Hall and Twelfth Night/Richard III. She has collaborated with many of Britain’s foremost directors and theatre-makers, including Greg Doran, Dominic Dromgoole, Jeremy Herrin, Mark Rylance, Claire van Kampen, and Tim Carroll.
Her screen credits include Netflix’s Gangs of London, Disney+’s Shardlake, BBC’s Wolf Hall and The Mirror and the Light, where she has worked as Movement Director and Movement Coach with leading actors and directors. She was also part of Kate Bush’s legendary Before the Dawn concerts at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
Throughout her career, Siân has combined movement direction with performance, choreography and actor training, establishing an international reputation for bringing physical storytelling, character and text together in productions ranging from Shakespeare and opera to contemporary theatre and film.
Siân is delighted to join the Siam Repertory Theatre Company as Movement Director for The King’s Command, bringing her exceptional experience to this landmark revival of the English-language plays of H.M. King Rama VI.
James Oxley
Composer & Voice Director
Internationally acclaimed tenor, composer and vocal director
James Oxley is an internationally acclaimed British tenor, composer and vocal director whose career has taken him to leading concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
Following studies at the Royal College of Music and Oxford University, James has established himself as one of Britain’s foremost interpreters of the Baroque and Classical repertoire. He has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, The Sixteen, the Monteverdi Choir, the Gabrieli Consort & Players, Collegium Vocale Gent, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and Les Talens Lyriques, under many of the world’s foremost conductors. Alongside his distinguished international performing career, James is an award-winning composer, musical director and highly respected vocal coach, collaborating with actors and singers across theatre, concert and recording. His unique combination of musical excellence and dramatic insight has made him a sought-after creative practitioner in both classical music and theatre.
James is delighted to join the Siam Repertory Theatre Company as Composer and Vocal Director for The King’s Command, bringing his international experience and artistic expertise to this landmark revival of the English-language plays of H.M. King Rama VI.
Piangkwan “PK” Dechavas
Production Manager
Piangkwan “PK” Dechavas is a highly experienced Production Stage Manager whose work spans major live theatre, broadcast television, corporate events, and large-scale international productions. Her stage management credits include the London 2012 Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Sonia Friedman Productions, Disney Theatrical Productions, Really Useful Group, and the National Youth Theatre.
Trained in Stage Management and Technical Theatre at LAMDA, with a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Leeds, PK brings both creative sensitivity and technical precision to the rehearsal room and stage. Her career also includes technical production work for major UK television shows including The X Factor, The Graham Norton Show. She is delighted to join The King’s Command as Production Stage Manager.
Cleo Pettitt
Set and Costume Design
Cleo Pettitt is an award-winning British set and costume designer whose work has taken her to theatres across the UK and internationally, including Alaska, Bermuda, Dubai, Canada, New York, and Bahrain. Trained as a scenic artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Birmingham Rep, she later earned both a BA (Hons) in Theatre Design and an MA in Scenography.
Her extensive theatre credits include Dracula, Around the World in Eighty Days, Macbeth, The Sound of Music, The Producers, Dreamgirls, Cabaret, The Woman in Black, and A Christmas Carol, alongside numerous opera and musical productions. A leading designer of British pantomime, she is currently the in-house designer for the Hackney Empire and Nottingham Playhouse pantomimes. Cleo is a four-time nominee at the Great British Pantomime Awards and won Best Set Design in 2022.
